There are many reasons for reducing our consumption of meat. The livestock industry is estimated to produce 20% of global carbon emissions. Eating a lot of meat, especially poor quality meat, has been linked with cancer and other diseases. Cruelty towards animals is a given in most livestock businesses.

But here’s a good reason to go vegetarian or vegan – it’s delicious! Paris, where we live when we’re not at the farm, is currently in the midst of a remarkable boom in vegan cafes and restaurants. Remarkable, because, well, this is France, home of French cuisine and all that.

Here’s a list of the latest vegan cafés and restaurants in Paris.

We recently went to a family event and the caterer provided vegan options, lots of them. It was hilarious to see 40 well-heeled Parisians telling each other that vegan food is surprisingly good!

Earlier this week Alexis took a friend to East Side Burgers, a vegetarian/vegan burger bar in central Paris, and he pronounced it excellent.

There’s even a vegan clothesmaker-cum-chef (Carmen Ragosta) who made Alexis a vegan winter coat!
